I so love my Rubbermoon stamps and these 4 cards were such fun to make. All of the images were coloured with Prismacolour pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits. I find that Prismacolour pencils really are the best pencils crayons for this technique.

I was definitely on a roll when I did these cards. I followed the same process for each of them; painting the rubber stamp with H2Os, slightly misting with a mini mister and then stamping on to white cardstock. My Cuttlebug definitely got a workout too. LOL

I think I like the last one the best. How about you? Do you have a favourite?

My Oasis

This is a page I did in my Art Journal. I started by applying a coat of black acrylic paint to the page and once that was dry I combined flower stencils with hand-drawn flowers. The flowers were first done with a lead pencil. I then painted them all in with my “Twinks” (H2Os). To finish the piece off, I outlined the flowers with black and white markers.

I’m really pleased with the end result. What do you think?

I SO love this stamp and am wondering how many different colour combinations I can come up with. I was doing a happy dance whilst colouring her. Like yesterday’s card, I stamped with Memento ink on smooth cardstock, coloured with Touch Twin Markers and added a bit of Prismacolour pencil to highlight. And of course, I had to use some Stickles and Glossy Accents.

Jumping on the band wagon with Christmas cards and I decided to go with non-traditional colours for this one.

I stamped with my fave ink (Memento), coloured it with Touch Twin markers and highlighted with Prismacolour pencils and to finish it off, added some Stickles.

Coloured Embossing Powders

I seldom use my coloured embossing powders. Actually, heat embossing is something I rarely do.

For this card I stamped the image (stamp unknown) on a piece of matte, silver paper, added some blue embossing powder from my stash and heat embossed. I layered the stamped image on to silver, mirror cardstock, and then on to some matte, blue metallic paper. This was then mounted to another piece of silver, matte cardstock that I dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I then randomly sponged the piece with Versamark ink and sprinkled on some more of the blue embossing powder. I’m tickled pink with the final result. What do you think?

I Wonder What She’s Looking At?

I actually went about making this card the “right” way for a change; picking out my papers and then colouring the image to actually match the papers and cardstock that I had chosen. I must say, it sure does make the whole process a lot easier.

The papers I have had for years and years; probably some of the first patterned paper I ever purchased. The stamp is a Magenta favourite of mine. Lots of open space for colouring. I’ve stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Touch Twin markers.

TTC03 – Florals

I’ve been using Touch Twin markers for a couple of years now and I absolutely LOVE them.

This is a card that I made for their challenge. I stamped the image from the Daisy Love set using Memento Rich Cocoa ink, quickly heat set it and coloured with Touch Twin markers. The colours I used are listed below. The background was done with Distress Frayed Burlap and I outlined the image with a gold Krylon pen. To finish off the card I added two gold peel-offs and a little gold Stickles to the flower centre.

The markers I used:

Leaves: Y169, GY175 Y41, Y42

Flowers: Y36, Y34, YR24, BR107, Y38, Y45

Don’t these snowmen look warm all bundled up in their scarves and hats? I had a lot fun colouring this image. First I stamped with permanent ink on hot pressed watercolour paper and used Tombow markers. Added some Liquid Applique, Stickles a bit of ribbon and voila!

A dear cyberspace friend sent me a card using this image and I immediately knew I had to have this stamp (Magenta). I think it makes the perfect holiday card. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cardinal here in Montreal. Anyways, I stamped on hot press watercolour paper and used Tombow markers to add the colour, added a few layers and a bit of gold Krylon pen for edging. Of course, I had to add some gold Stickles before I could say the card was finished.

Don’t you just love snow globes? I remember my father buying one for my mother one year for Christmas. You should have seen the look on her face! LOL. Not sure if it is the same year he bought her rubber gloves in size XL (stocking stuffer). Anyways, too funny. Okay, back to the card. I’m not sure who makes this double sided paper, but it is gorgeous! Perfect for a fuss free card. The stamps are from Stampin’ Up and I coloured the trees using Prismacolour pencils and mineral spirits. The main image piece is sponged with Distress inks (my favorite ink).

I love this image!!! I’ve stamped it on Bella’s Bestest Paper and coloured it in with alcohol markers. Added a Spellbinders Nestabilities scalloped border and mounted to a a yummy piece of Magenta patterned paper. This is an easel card and I think everything works so well together. What do you think?

I’ve had this stamp for years and every year I use it for at least one card. Yesterday, I explained how to achieve a mess free glitter technique and I’ve used some of the same silver glittered cardstock here as a layer. I’ve stamped the image and added some colour using Tombow markers.

Cheater’s Glitter!

Do you like the look of glitter but hate the mess? Glitter gets in all the places you don’t want it including on the dog!!! Actually, this is a mess free glitter technique that I was SO happy to learn. Wanna know how it was done??????

First, take a piece of pre-glittered cardstock. I used silver. Next I coloured a silver Peel-Off sticker with a black marker. You don’t have to use black, but you are going to stick this peel off on to the glittered cardstock, so you need a contrast. I like the look of black on silver as it resembles stained glass. And, it looks kind of classy. With me so far?

Okay, so now you’ve got your coloured peel-off sticker stuck to your glittered cardstock. Make sure you burnish it well and now you are going to colour in the open areas with an alcohol marker. I don’t recommend using the brush end of your Copic marker, but a bullet/chisel end will work as will other markers (Touch, Bic, Sharpie). And, there you have it, a mess free glitter card.

I really like the look of clean and graphic cards. Lots of white coupled with a bit of colour and voila the perfect marriage.

These 2 cards were stamped on smooth c/s and coloured with Prismacolour pencils and odourless mineral spirits (still one of my favourite techniques). I added some embossed lines using my ScorPal and of course I had to add some Stickles.

I’m really loving the vivid look that Tombow markers produce. The image was stamped on hot press watercolour paper and embossed with Zing gold embossing powder and then coloured in with Tombow markers. A few layers of c/s , some Stickles and voila a card I’m pleased to share and send to a friend.

This is an image that I watercoloured with Tombow markers and let’s just say that there were some parts I wasn’t happy with. Because this was a pre-stamped image given to me, and I don’t own the stamp, I really didn’t want to throw it in the circular filing cabinet (aka garbage/poubelle). So, I made inchies from the “good” parts and put them behind a black punched frame. I added a little Flower Soft and voila a card that I was happy with. What do you think?

6 Cards from 1 Sheet

Keeping to my promise, today I’m showing how you can get 6 cards from a single sheet of patterned paper. These cards are designed by Wendy Sue Anderson and were featured for a Design Challenge in the Dec. 2005/Jan. 2006 PaperCrafts magazine. I’ve used some of my favourite sentiment stamps and I chose one of my favourite designer papers from Magenta. The base cards are made from SU’s Chocolate Chip cardstock.

This card was a really quick one to whip up and I love how the Picasa software captures the gold mirror paper. Much better than a scan!

The ornament is a Peel-Off and even though the ribbon is a tad big I still like it. (Note to self, next time make a smaller bow).

I think this is one of the first Christmas stamps I purchased many years ago. The image has been coloured with Touch markers which are an alcohol based marker similar to Copics. I’ve added a little glitter pen to highlight and the background has been coloured with Distress ink.

I got these stamps last year and never had a chance to use them. They really make me laugh. Such a charming couple.

I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them with a combination of alcohol markers and pencil crayons, added some Polar White Flower Soft for the fur and of course some Stickles.

This is an ATC Christmas tree ornament I created for an ATC group I belong to. Each year, in November, we create vintage ATCs that can be hung from the tree. We’ve been doing this for about 4 years now and it is such fun to pull them out every year and hang them. This cutie patootie is clip art from Luna Girl. I’ve added some gold Peel-Offs (Magenta), highlighted the tree lights with a glitter pen and pierced the borders using my Tim Holtz ruler; a tool that is a must have if you like to do hand stitching on your papercrafts.

Flowers & Butterflies

No matter the season I love to make cards featuring flowers and butterflies. This image, from The Stamp Barn, has been stamped twice, heat embossed with gold embossing powder and coloured in with Tombow markers. The butterflies have been cut out and glued with silicone to produce a 3D effect. I distressed the edges using Tim Holtz’s distressing tool and added a little Chocolate Tombow marker.

My friend gave me a few stamped and embossed images to practice my watercolouring and I’m having SO much fun playing with the various types of watercolours that are available. I don’t use glitter very often as it is SO messy, but this one was “controllable” as I used double sided tape and a paintbrush to apply the glitter.

Friendship

Harmonie came to visit our stamp club on Sunday and we were able to make 2 cards. I actually took my fixins home with me and put the cards together at my leisure.

The image was coloured with Tombow markers and I just happened to have a Friendship Peel-Off (Magenta). I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out, considering I haven’t had a lot of practice using Tombows.

I’m also trying out a new photo editing program (Google’s Picasa) and this is my first attempt. Not too bad, eh? What do you think?

Grid Lock

June’s challenge over at GPP Street Team was grids. (Crusade #41). I wasn’t able to complete the challenge on time as it was July when I found out about the challenges. I wanted to do the challenge regardless and this is the first grid page that I did. I dug into my baggie of white scraps and embellishments, grabbed my favourite butterfly punch, paper trimmer and adhesive and before I knew it, the page was complete.

I can't believe it's been 10 months since I blogged. I feel like a bottle that has been washed up on the shore. The bottle is screaming for someone to pop the cork and let me out.

I'm still a rubber stamper at heart, but after seeing Susan's recent works of art, I'm trying to step away from my comfort zone and try something different. I've been playing a little with the GPP challenges and I must say they sure are fun. I was too late in getting June's challenges done in time to post, but I'll get them up on here soon.

I HATE PANTYHOSE!!!!

When I saw this stamp from Rubbermoon I just had to have it! If you are like me, you hate panty hose and I would rather stay home than put those “beasts” on. Thank goodness I can go to work in jeans! I can also relate to the lady eating those chocolates (also Rubbermoon). Yummy!!!!

The image was colored with Prismacolor pencil crayons and Taltine (OMS) and mounted to layers of c/s cut with Spellbinders dies. The small scallop punch at the top and bottom is from EK Success. The background paper is from Magenta.

I absolutely love this image from Magenta. They really do make the most awesome stamps captivating so much detail. There really isn’t a lot one has to do to have their images ready for a card. I sponged on a little Distress ink and that was it. Matched with the perfect papers, and voila an instant card. (I didn’t choose the papers or image. This was from my last Bar au Cartes class at the local ss).

I used some Magenta chipboard to make this card. It’s the first time I’ve used chipboard and I really like the look. I inked the pieces with Distress inks and of course just had to add some Stickles. A birdie needs his bling too!

Really, I will try something else soon, but this just works so darn well for me. The punch for the border is from Martha Stewart and the corner punch is by EK Success. I’ve also added a small Magenta stamp to the background .

For the Fisherman in your Life

Basic Grey has the most awesome papers and I spotted this sheet at my local ss and JUST HAD TO HAVE IT!

I took another sheet of brown background paper and added some Distress Soot Black and distressed the edges a bit. I then added some Peel Offs that I colored here and there with an olive green Touch marker. I painted the boat with some US Artquest Mica Magic watercolor paints. A real quick card but it does have some punch to it and would make a perfect guy card, don’t you think?

These two cards I made for a contest at my local scrapbooking store. Somewhere on your card you had to use Flower Soft. I couldn’t decide which card to enter, so I entered both. Not sure which one they loved, or hated, but I did win the card for the month.

First card uses a Stamping Bella stamp colored with Prismacolor pencil crayons and Taltine (OMS).

The second card is a Penny Black stamp that is just too cute!!! The background paper I made using various acrylic paints.

Of course, there’s Flower Soft on both cards and some Dew Drops! (Thanks Kim).

My prize was $15. worth of stamps! Gotta love free stuff!!!!

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

I’m probably the last person in the stamping world to try this technique (Tim Holtz). Canned air was just not something that I remembered to buy. Lo and behold, I found a can in the basement. Visit Tim’s blog to get the complete details, but in a nutshell, drops of alcohol inks are dropped on to glossy cardstock. The canned air is then sprayed to move the inks around.

This really was a lot of fun and I’ll definitely do it again.

Bar aux Cartes

I have 3 cards to share with you today. I attended my first Bar Aux Cartes at my local scrapbooking store. It was such fun! Basically, we pay $10.00 and get to make 3 cards. We get to choose from approx. 8 designs. All the papers are cut and the images are stamped for us. We just color and assemble and walk away with our creations. They are great designs to refer back to.

Princess

Doesn’t she just look like a princess? I love this Stampsmith stamp and had the perfect opportunity to ink her up. The ATC was made for a “Here Kitty” mingle I recently participated in. I colored the image in with a damp paintbrush and Tombow markers. And, I managed to get my Dymo label maker working again! Yippee!

Faux Postage

This is an ATC I made for a mingle. The theme was postage. It gave me the opportunity to use many small stamps that seldom see ink. The coloring was done with Prismacolor pencil crayons. (My favorite coloring medium).

Some Shimmer

I made this card for a mingle I recently participated in on one of my Yahoo groups. It had to be a card that shimmers. Of course, my scanner doesn’t show up the shimmery Bazzill cardstock, or the blue shimmery cardstock. The stamp, is from Stamp Barn and I stamped and heat embossed using gold embossing powder. I painted the image with Twinkling H2Os. In real life, this card shimmers like crazy, man.

Canadian Wildlife Stamps

One of my favorite techniques to do is watercoloring and these stamps are just perfect. Bonnidee offers two sets of these clear stamps and of course I just had to buy them both. Did I feel guilty? Nope, as a percentage of the purchase price actually goes to the Canadian Wildlife Society. Good enough excuse for me to buy.

I stamped the images with a permanent ink and then used my Tombow markers to add the color. More guy cards for my stash!

I had a lot of fun making these pictures for my new grandson. The backgrounds are done with watercolor sprays and I’ve stamped with black Memento ink and embossed with clear e/p. Stamps are by Magenta.

Rylan McLeod Macey Arrives

I have so been waiting for the birth of my first grandson.

Rylan McLeod Macey decided not to wait until July 11th and came into our world at 7:02 p.m. June 26th. Weighing in at 7 lbs. 9 oz. and measuring 20 ins.

Mommy (Jennifer), Daddy (Dave) and baby Rylan are all doing well. Here’s a pic of the happy family. (Jennifer you do not look like you just gave birth!).

After his debut, he decided a nap was in order.

I stamped this image awhile ago and I don’t know who makes the stamp. Kind of has a Magenta look about it. Ummmmm? Any idea who makes this stamp????

I used sponges to apply dye inks to the background and colored him in with pencil crayons and added a little odorless mineral spirits to blend. Added some teeny brads and the “Hello” (Hero Arts) to finish it off.

I love the look of white cards. I find them to be so classy! I’m not sure who makes this flower stamp, but it sure is a beauty. I stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa dye ink and colored in the image with Prismacolor pencils. It doesn’t show well, but I used the ScorPal to add a couple of embossed lines to finish it off.

I colored with Tombow markers directly on this Penny Black stamp and overstamped on to a background piece that I had stamped with a piece of textured wallpaper using Distress Inks. Thank you Susan for inspiring me to stamp with wallpaper. I really like the subtle effect. Using the same Distress ink I edged the torn piece of patterned paper. Added some Stickles to the flowers and a couple of Peel Off border strips to finish it off.

The cards are white and I’ve colored it by brayering chalk ink. I jazzed it up a bit, okay a lot, by adding some peel-offs, ribbon and Stickles and voila!

Two of my blog followers have been asking me to get blogging again. I don’t know where the time has gone! I can’t believe it’s been 6 weeks since I posted. I’ll try to do better!

I’m still on the pencil crayon and odourless mineral spirits “kick” . Coloring is just so relaxing and it certainly helps now that we’ve got some sunshine and warmer temps.

I just adore these stamps (Inky Antics). After stamping with a black permanent ink, I used India ink, I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and blended with mineral spirits. I am so stuck on this technique at the moment. I really should step outside my comfort zone and do something else. LOL.
